It has come to our attention recently that a terrific resource has been made available in PDF form for music students.
It is called the Arban Method for Trumpet. The exercises in the book can be played by any and all treble clef instruments despite the fact that it was written specifically for Trumpet players.
If your student would like to use this as a supplement to their regular practicing, then they can download the PDF’s and practice to their hearts content. The book is divided up into 5 different downloads and is over 300 pages long in total. We suggest that you just play it off of your device.
We are not using this for performance or a grade, but just offering up whatever tools we can find to help your students play their best.
Wester Beginning Band Lottery Results
It’s that time of the year – time to start thinking about what band instrument you’d like to play next year!! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Smith (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mrs. Black (email@example.com). You can click on the 5th grade tab above for more information.
If you missed our Instrument Carnival nights on February 5th and 9th, it’s not too late!!! Contact a band director and we will set up an appointment for you to come try an instrument!
Congrats to the 2013-2014 Wester Symphonic Band for being recognized in the Mark of Excellence, National Wind Band Honors Contest!! In June, we submitted a recording of Symphonic Band and were selected as a Commended Winner in the competition. Sarah Song, who is currently a Freshman at Centennial High School, earned an Outstanding Soloist Award for her clarinet performance. More than 224 groups from 35 different states entered the competition, with the best receiving an award. Huge congrats to Frisco High School, Stafford Middle School and Maus Middle School, who were also recognized in this contest.
You can see the full article on the FISD website here.
Last night, we had our band parent meeting. If you were unable to attend or would like to view the materials, they are below:
