The jazz bands of Wester will join forces with the jazz bands of Clark Middle School and Centennial High School for an evening of jazz at Frisco Commons Park on May 26th. The Wester Red Jazz (6th graders) will meet at 5:45 in the secondary pavilion (behind the bathrooms) and perform at 6:20. The Wester Gold Jazz (7/8th graders) will meet in the secondary pavilion at 6:30. (The full schedule can be found at the bottom of this letter.) Students are encouraged to stay and support Clark and Centennial jazz bands! Please wear your red “Bandzinga” tshirt. The concert will be held at the main pavilion at Frisco Commons. Please bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to recline in and enjoy the show.
The Centennial Band Boosters have graciously provided dinner for the evening for all who attend. We will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs and there will be food for the whole family, so be sure to bring your appetite! Marble Slab Creamery will also be on hand with their delicious ice cream for a small fee. A portion of the profits from the ice cream will benefit the Centennial Band.

It has come to our attention recently that a terrific resource has been made available in PDF form for music students.
It is called the Arban Method for Trumpet. The exercises in the book can be played by any and all treble clef instruments despite the fact that it was written specifically for Trumpet players.
If your student would like to use this as a supplement to their regular practicing, then they can download the PDF’s and practice to their hearts content. The book is divided up into 5 different downloads and is over 300 pages long in total. We suggest that you just play it off of your device.
We are not using this for performance or a grade, but just offering up whatever tools we can find to help your students play their best.
